The invention relates to a size for the coating of sand casting moulds, - cores or - rapid prototyping shapes for the production of cast parts of magnesium and magnesium alloys, comprising a carrier liquid, fillers, binders, suspending agent and protection means, wherein at least two protective means from the group consisting of boric acid, aluminum sulfate, potassium tetra fluorine borate and urea are inserted.
