The sliding sunroof has a sunroof panel (10) provided with stiffening elements, provided as independent bands (18,19) or struts, extending across the top of the sunroof panel and attached to sliding rods (20,21) cooperating with guide rails, secured to the automobile roof on opposite sides of the sunroof panel.
