Vacuum injection process for manufacturing fiber reinforced composite products involves evacuating second chamber causing resin to flow into preform in adjacent evacuated first chamber A fiber preform (1) with a flow aid is placed on a tool (3) and covered with a gas permeable, but matrix fluid impermeable membrane (7) to form a first chamber (25). A second chamber (27) is created adjacent to the first and sealed against the tool by a film (19). Air is extracted from the second chamber causing matrix material to be drawn from storage into the evacuated first chamber and the flow aid distributes the fluid over the preform surface which it then impregnates. An independent claim is made for the process equipment.
