The catch hook which is part of the seat fitting in a motor vehicle has a releasable locking element(21) to secure the locked position in the event of a collision. The locking element is in the form of a rocking arm(22) installed on a lower part(14) of the fitting and with a pivot point(20) which in relation to the direction of motion of the vehicle is located in front of and above the stop pin(17) which is engaged by the catch hook. The rocking arm has a locking protrusion(24) located below its pivot point and tangentially acting upon the forward portion of the stop pin.
