The fitting has a latch (6) with a locking toothing (61) that is engaged into a counter locking toothing (71) of a catch (7) in a locked condition of the fitting. A clamping element (3) is rotatably movable relative to the latch, and an actuating unit (2) acts on the latch for locking and unlocking the fitting. A torsion spring (8) is connected with the clamping element and a seat part frame (1) such that the torque acting on the clamping element by the torsion spring is reduced when the fitting is moved from an locking position to an unlocking position by increasing tension of the spring.
