A melt or solution processable polyaniline comprises polyaniline doped or protonated with a dopant consisting of sulfonic acid of 3-pentadecyl phenol, 3-pentadecyl anisole, or 3-pentadecyl phenoxy acetic acid. A melt or solution processable polyaniline comprises polyaniline doped or protonated with a dopant of formula (I), (II), or (III). The doped or protonated polyaniline has 3-60 S/Cm conductivity; high solubility in weak polar or non polar solvents consisting of chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, xylene, or m-cresol; thermal stability up to 200 deg C; three dimensional variable range doping condition of 150-50 K; and high degree of crystalline order. Independent claims are also included for: (A) a method of preparing the dopants (I)-(III) by sulfonating naturally occurring biomonomers, (B) a method of preparing the inventive melt or solution processable polyaniline by: (i) protonating aniline by mechanical mixing or by in situ doping emulsion polymerization of aniline with the dopants to obtain protonated polyaniline; and (ii) subjecting the obtained product to solution and/or melt processing, and (C) a method of preparing conductive blends of protonated polyaniline by blending the melt or solution processable polyaniline with thermoplastics or elastomers.
