The system is designed with a unit for determining the surface geometry of the metal strip (2) and to supply this to a regulator (14). An anticipatory control (15) for the determined surface geometry of the heating strip is provided which is connected to the regulator, and the anticipatory control is connected before the drive rollers (6,7) for altering the driver roller gap (17).
