The layers are arranged in alternating lamellar construction. They are less than 1 mm thick and they are made of tread mixtures of differing wear resistance. The layers are vulcanized together and their boundary surfaces follow the tread contours. An Independent claim is included for the method of making the tire. The tire blank has air-impermeable inner layer, reinforcing rubber-impregnated carcass, crown profile, bead cores, sidewalls, belt and optional further belt plies. An unvulcanized tread is added to the blank, using the lamellar construction method described. The assembly is vulcanized in the mold, completing profiling of the tread structure.
