A composition for controlling animal pests contains (A) a 4-hydroxy-3-phenyl-2-oxo-2,5-dihydrofuran derivative (I); and (B) one or more of e.g. chlorfluazuron, diflubenzuron, lufenuron, teflubenzuron, triflumuron, novaluron, flufenoxuron, hexaflumuron, emamectin, methoxyfenozid, tebufenozid, halofenozid, endosulfan, Trichogramma spp., Verticillium lecanii, and indoxacarb. A composition for controlling animal pests contains (A) a phenyl-substituted cyclic keto-enol compound of formula (I); and (B) chlorfluazuron, diflubenzuron, lufenuron, teflubenzuron, triflumuron, novaluron, flufenoxuron, hexaflumuron, emamectin, methoxyfenozid, tebufenozid, halofenozid, endosulfan, Trichogramma spp., Verticillium lecanii, fipronil, cyromazine, azadirachtin, diofenolan and indoxacarb.
