The windscreen wiper(9) comprises a wiper arm(2) connected through a drive shaft to an actuating motor. The construction of the drive shaft(4) is such that the actuating motor can be fitted on the vehicle so that it does not follow the adjusting movement of the windscreen. For this purpose the drive shaft is flexible in the form a cardan shaft with length compensation.
