The engine's air intake passage system comprises an outer casing(6) with a inlet collector(5), individual intake passages(4) branching from it and leading to the cylinders and each connected through rib elements(14) and a hub element(15) to a drive shaft(12,13) so that the effective intake pipe length is adjustable by rotation of the drive shaft. The hub elements are installed on the corresponding drive shaft by means of a laser weld joint.
