A metering device for the metering of a liquid rinsing medium in a rinsing chamber of a washing machine has a reservoir provided for the rinsing medium and a rinsing medium valve. The device (1,13) can be pivoted between a filling position and an operating position. In the flow direction to the rinsing chamber behind the rinsing medium valve, a stagnation barrier is provided for the stagnation of the rinsing medium in the operating position and a return flow line for the return flow of at least a part of the stagnated rinsing medium in the filling position. A separate chamber is provided for cleaning media with a controllable opening mechanism.
