The tabulation (52) including information related to surface region of the recording medium, i.e. identification of periphery limitation, gap of the recording medium, is stored in memory (50). The image generation unit is controlled by the microprocessor based on the stored table so that image is generated only within surface region of the recording medium. An Independent claim is also included for image generation unit.
