Fastening system, for mounting a component (12) on a support (14), comprises a sleeve (36) which fits around the head of a screw (26). The outer surfaces of the sleeve and of the bore (34) in the component which accommodates it are in the shape of part of the surface of a sphere. The screw is inserted at an angle, so that the sleeve is uncompressed, and is then tipped so that it is compressed and held firmly in place.
