The hydraulic unit (10) has a swivel element (14) for supporting a cylinder block (16) mounted for swivel movement in a fixed frame. A closed regulating mechanism for adjusting the hydraulic displacement of the unit and containing a movable servo piston is connected in operation to the swivel element and contains a feed back element connected to the swivel element . The regulating mechanism causes displacement of the servo piston to change the swivel position of the swivel element. The regulating mechanism comprises an oblong bore with control valve therein. The feedback element has a sleeve downstream of a control piston installed displaceable in the bore. On end is displaceable in the control bore and the other end protrudes out of the control housing to engage on the pressure feed back sleeve. A proportional magnetic fluid valve connected to the other end of the control piston is in operational connection with a computer and the computer controls the fluid valve and thus the fluid pressure adjoining the other end of the control piston, the displacement of the servo piston, the swivel element and the position of the cylinder block.
