Process for treating sintered parts comprises pressing a powder mixture based on iron to form a pressed body; coating the pressed body with a nickel-phosphorus powder containing 7-13 wt.% phosphorus to reach a coating weight of at least 0.1 mg/mm2; sintering the coated pressed body to produce a sintered part based on iron; and hardening the sintered part by cooling. Preferred Features: The process further comprises a paste by adding an organic medium to the nickel-phosphorus powder and applying the paste to the pressed body.
