Inductive absolute position converter, has flow modulators that changes flow modulation characteristic for every track along measurement axis to modulate inductive coupling of transmitter and receiver windings
The position converter (100) has flow modulators (122,142) that changes the flow modulation characteristic for every track along a measurement axis (106) to modulate the inductive coupling between the transmitter and receiver windings. The inductive coupling between the transmitter and receiver windings is modulated based on the spatial distribution of the flow modulators on a track and relative position between the read head portion and scale portion (104). The read head portion and the scale portion move along the measurement axis. The transmitter and receiver windings are provided on the read head portion. A signal processor is electrically connected to the transmitter and receiver windings. The flow modulators are spatially distributed in tracks along the measurement axis on the scale portion. An Independent claim is also included for the operation of the inductive absolute position converter system.
