Projection data are detected during a helical scanning using an x-ray source and a surface detector that is moved along a helical trajectory relative to an object to be scanned. The method involves defining a coordinate system for parameterising the data and generating estimates of the projection data that do not lie on the helical trajectory by solving ultra-hyperbolic equations in the defined coordinate system. An Independent claim is included for a computer tomography imaging system.
