Completing remote transaction in fibre channel node, by writing FCP exchange ID in special position in memory if I/O operation is successful

An interface control device of the FC node processes FCP response frames to determine if an I/O operation was successfully completed. In the usual case of successful operation, the interface control device writes the FCP exchange ID, corresponding to the I/O operation, into a special position in a memory, which serves to call up logic functions implemented in an ASIC. An Independent claim is included for a fibre channel node.
