The method involves determining the vehicle deceleration according to the driver's wishes when cornering is detected and increasing the braking force on the outer front and/or outer rear wheels above the braking force corresponding to the driver's wishes and reducing the braking force on one or both inner wheels. The method involves observing the turn characteristics and wheel slip of individual wheels when cornering and varying the distribution of braking forces to the wheels on the inside and outside of the curve accordingly when cornering is detected. A vehicle deceleration according to the driver's wishes is determined when cornering is detected and is achieved by increasing the braking force on the outer front and/or outer rear wheels above the braking force corresponding to the driver's wishes and reducing the braking force on one or both inner wheels. Independent claims are also included for the following: a braking system for implementing the method.
