The system has a mixing tank (20), an additive tank (14) and a dispensing unit (18) between a fuel tank (24) and a fuel consumer (30). The dispensing unit delivers a determined quantity of additive to the mixing tank according to the quantity of fuel conducted from the fuel tank to the mixing tank. A feed pump (32) delivers the fuel from the fuel tank to the mixing tank. Preferably, the pump delivers a determined amount of fuel to provide a minimum level in the mixing tank and the dispensing unit delivers a corresponding quantity of additive.
