The load holding device has a support construction connected to a textile rope by a connecting element(8). At the top a vertical through-opening(11) faces the lifting gear and through it passes the rope with clearance. A co-axial housing(9) bounded at the sides by a contact face(10) and with a downwards increasing cross section is connected to the vertical through-opening. The rope in the housing has a twice-looped knot with the rope extending upwards approximately centrally from the knot and with the upper loop bearing against the contact face.
