Method for characterization of magnet system instabilities in a nuclear magnetic resonance tomography system so that patient images can be improved enabling a better diagnosis to be made
Method has the following steps: application of a magnetic field gradient and radio-frequency excitation impulse to a gyromagnetic material of an object of interest. An image echo gradient is applied and the nuclear magnetic resonance of the object determined. A navigation echo gradient is applied and the magnetic instability of a second NMR signal is determined. The resulting NMR signal is analyzed to characterize a large number of effects of magnetic instabilities. An Independent claim is made for a NMR tomography system.
