Production of a lithographic printing plate comprises scanning a plate material with a violet diode laser and then developing the plate, where the plate material comprises at least one silver halide emulsion layer and a physical developer core layer on a support and has a sensitivity of 20 mu J/cm2 at a wavelength of 400-440 nm and substantially no sensitivity at wavelengths of 450 nm or longer.
