The system has a capsule hearing protector and at least one ear plug (18) with a loudspeaker (28). The ear plug has a flexible casing (36) that is adaptable to individual ear geometries. The loudspeaker in the ear plug is in the form of an ANR loudspeaker. The capsule and plug have interfaces (34,40) enabling the transmission of speech signals for generating sound with the loudspeaker.
