The umbrella handle (12) incorporates two releases (A1,A2) for opening and closing respectively and which are operated by a sliding release button (11). The release (A2) is in the form of a unit with spring-tensioned (19) unlocking-slide-piece (14,15) and a detent pawl (16) in the form of a two-sided lever. The telescopic umbrella-stick (1) has a crown (4), a slide-piece (5) and a canopy structure (2). Two spring drive units (F1,F2) have a compression spring (F1') and tension springs (F2') respectively. A cable pull (S) has a cable (S') with one end co-operating with the release mechanism by means of a bar (8) movably mounted in the umbrella stick and a pawl (9) on it. The pawl is locked by a hooked lug (9b) touching a tubular locking piece (10) with hollowed out cavity (10a).
