The invention relates to a process for the dyeing of a highly oriented moulded article substantially consisting of a polyethylene having a weight average molecular weight of at least 400 kg/mol. The invention also relates to dyeing of articles containing such a moulded article and to moulded articles and articles that can be obtained by these processes. In the process according to the invention the moulded article is contacted, at a temperature between 100 and 130 DEG C to a supercritical liquid in which a dye is dissolved.
