Container shell (1) is hollow cylinder, with axis horizontal, thick enough to resist compacting forces. One end is closed by detachable shield (4); on other is mounted double-acting actuating cylinder (3), carrying compacting ram (2) fitting container's internal diameter. Material is loaded through top hatch (6) at ram end. End ram is closed during compacting either by pair of hinged doors (7) or by sliding cover (8). To empty container, end-shield is removed and contents expelled by extending ram through full length. Two base channels (10) are fixed longitudinally underneath; to these, sets of wheels (9) are fixed, to produce full or semi-trailer. Opt., channel base is fixed on rail or road wagon, or simply rests directly on ground.
