A blow molding machine has a two part mold carried by moving supports that are hinged together. A mechanism has a slide connected by pivoting links the supports. The pivot axes of the links lie in the same direction and are perpendicular to the hinge axis so the mould can be locked in its closed position. The pivot axes may be perpendicular to the movement of the slide. More than one link connected each support to the slide. The slide has stirrup(s) with the links connected to the ends of its arms. The slide is driven by a double action actuator or a cam mechanism.
