A transfer line for cryogenic fluid has inner tube(s) extending within an outer metallic tube that is made up from sections with annular ribs regularly spaced along it. Each tube section may be of stainless steel with a Young's Modulus - 15 x 104 MPa. Each section has a widened end for coupling to the adjacent section. The longitudinal spacing of the ribs is 1-4 times the nominal diameter of the outer tube. The ribs are made by deforming a constant diameter tube using hydraulic pressure. In use the interior of the outer tube is from 0.8 * 105 Pa to 1.2 * 105 Pa above the ambient pressure.
