The device includes a measuring unit (100) mounted on a movable robotic arm (203) sliding on rails (200,201,202) disposed in an XY and Z axis. This unit (101) measures the hulls of ships (i.e. the exterior wall, the cladding, internal and external reinforcements, external projections including rudder blades, stabilizers, propellers etc). The measuring unit has sensors, digital actuators etc, allowing measurement information to be gathered from the exterior of the hull (205).
