The introduction of a hydrogenating phase and promoter element in the porous structure of the zeolite reinforces the hydro-dehydrogenating phase in the oxide matrix giving a high activity and good selectivity in middle distillates. The catalyst comprises a matrix, a zeolite and hydro-dehydrogenating element localized in the matrix and consisting of a group VIB or VIII element. The zeolite also contains a group VIB or VIII element in the porous structure and a promoter element from boron, silicon or phosphorus. Independent claims are also included for the preparation of the catalyst and its uses.
