The process combines destruction of halogenated and non-halogenated (aromatic) organic molecules and reduction of metals considered as pollutants in industrial liquid effluents. The process utilizes electro-positive metal generating hydrogen during catalytic reaction, with mixture of catalytic metals utilizing hydrogen as source of electrons, at ambient temperature and pressure. Independent claims are also included for: (1) The use of the process to treat waste from dry cleaning industry as well as for treatment of industrial effluents from industries using chlorinated solvents in production process. (2) The use of the process for treatment of chlorinated compounds in presence of other compounds used in dry cleaning processes, namely butanol, isopropanol, butanone and various surfactants.
