Solid foodstuffs are drained in a colander which fits inside a bowl or pan which can be used for cooking or storing the food in a liquid. The bowl has an opening in its rim which allows a fork to be inserted in the side of the colander, to lift it, and the food, out of the liquid for serving (as shown).
