New yeast extract active at the dermo-epidermal junction, useful as anti-aging treatment for the skin

Cosmetic compositions comprising a yeast active extract, are new. An Independent claim is also included for the extraction of the active material from yeast, preferably Saccharomyces cerevisiae comprising: (1) dissolving yeasts in a slightly basic medium at a concentration of at least 20%, and stirred for 8 - 52 hours to hydrolyze the proteins; (2) filtering the mixture to separate the soluble from the insoluble; (3) washing to separate the active fraction from salts; (4) concentrating the active fraction; and (5) sterilizing filtration to produce a dry material content of 10 -200 g/liter, a total sugars content of 10 -100 g/liter and is of pH 4.0 - 10.0.
