The all-weather surface is made from sand mixed with strips of a non-woven felted textile material obtained as a by-product of the textile industry. The strips have a length to width ratio of more than 4 : 1 and a weight of 100 - 500 g/sq m; each strip measuring less than 15 mm wide and 30 - 60 mm long. They are mixed with sand at a rate of 2 to 6 kg/sq m to a depth of 5 - 20 cm, and the surface can be grassed.
