The device (20) has a body (21) mounted on a engine cylinder and provided with a rotating movable unit (30) delimiting, at the right, a distribution module (40) and on the left, a control module (50). The control module has a high pressure chamber HP and a low pressure chamber BP connected to a discharge electro valve. The distribution module has a high pressure HP distribution chamber (41) receiving the cooling liquid and in which is a rotating annular stop (31) having distribution orifices (35,36), with various outlets distributed in the periphery of this chamber and corresponding to the branches of this circuit also with a temperature sensor. The annular stop has a control flap (37) movable between these chambers as a function of the difference of pressure between the two chambers. There is a also a computer controlling the electro valve as a function of motor control strategy. An Independent claim is also included for the method using this device.
