Scaleable monitoring method for computer based data system having a number of resources with a supervisor forming a supervision domain in a Wide Area Network
The method has three stages, the first being decomposition of the supervision domain into sub-domains. The second automatic creation and configuration of each sub-domain of a data synthesizing node including at least an synthesizing agent. The third modifies the associations between synthesizing agents and indicating agents when the maximum number of determined resources in a sub-domain is reached. Scaleable monitoring method for a data system including a number of data equipment's forming a material resource with a supervisor forming a supervision domain. The method is activated by a central data administrator connected to a communication network which allows data transfer between the resources and the administrator. The method includes: (a) a decomposition stage in which the supervision domain is split into supervision sub-domains each including a set maximum of resources;a automatic creation and configuration stage, for each sub-domain, of a data synthesizing node including at least a memorized synthesizing agent in a resource memory. Each synthesizing agent is designed to synthesize indicator values for a resource calculated and memorized in the memory. These indicators represent a resource operating state of the sub-domain and are evaluated by indicator agents installed on the resources. Each indicator agent is identified in a unique way, by the name of the indicator which it calculates and by the sub-domain on which it is installed and is associated with the synthesizing agent using the value of the corresponding indicater;a modification stage for the associations between the synthesizing and the indicator agents when the set maximum number of resources in a sub-domain is reached, to take into account the appearance and disappearance of indicators, so that the new architecture of the supervision domain includes in each sub-domain a number of resources less than the set maximum number.
