The remote control system has a transmitter (34) transmitting frequency signal functions (30), and a function receiver (66,76,80). In response to the received signal the control unit selects a frequency for operation and transmits (70,74) the signal back to the remote control system, allowing the remote transmitter to select an operating frequency.
