A fighting type game machine which can be played independently or connected to a similar game machine. The game machine has a growth processor that processes the growth of the imaginary experience of a built-in virtual character based on the interactive operation of a user on an input unit, wherein on the absence of input from the user the growth degree of the character is decreased.. A storing unit records the growth degree of the character. A connection terminal connects the game machine directly to another game terminal. During interface of the game machines, the stored growth degree of both game machines are read. An outcome processor matches the growth degree of each machine to determine the winning and loosing machine. The growth degree of the winning machine is improved and the growth degree of the loosing machine is lowered.
