PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a SiC fiber-reinforced SiC composite material whose density is made higher by restraining a resin from seeping out during the baking, extremely restraining a crack from being generated in a molding by pressure and mitigating the internal stress when sintered, which has excellent mechanical characteristics and whose toughness is made more excellent by making fracture work large.;SOLUTION: The resin prepared by mixing 50-70 mass% minute SiC particles uniformly with the polyvinyl silane which has the unit structures shown by formula (a): -SiH2-CH2-CH2- and formula (b) and whose formula (a)/formula (b) ratio is 1 is impregnated in a SiC fiber molding. The resin-impregnated SiC fiber molding is heated to 300-400°C in an argon gas atmosphere so that the resin is cured into a high-density liquid or semisolid state and is then baked at 1,000°C or higher temperature under 2-10 MPa in the argon gas atmosphere while being compressed uniaxially. The resin-impregnated fiber molding having more excellent density and fracture toughness can be obtained by repeating a process to impregnate only the polyvinyl silane without mixing the SiC particles and bake it without compression after baked.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
