PURPOSE: To provide a device, which does not require the deck work at all at the time of holding and hoisting up/down an underwater lighting fixture. ;CONSTITUTION: In an underwater lighting fixture holding device, an underwater lighting fixture detecting means, which is displaced by the movement of an underwater lighting fixture 8 in the hoisting direction, is provided in an underwater lighting fixture housing cylinder for housing the underwater lighting fixture 8 at the time of finishing the underwater light hoisting work, and an underwater lighting fixture locking stopper 19, which is projected by the force of the movement when the movement of the underwater lighting fixture 8 in the hoisting direction is detected, is provided, and a means for retreating the stopper 19 when the underwater lighting fixture detecting means detects the movement of the underwater lighting fixture 8 in the hoisting direction again is provided. Hoisting and housing of the underwater lighting fixture 8 is detected by a projecting part and a magnetic material attached to an underwater light cable, and the hoisting is stopped, next, the underwater light is reversely rotated in the hoist-down direction, and stopped for housing. At the time of dropping the underwater light, the underwater lighting fixture 8 is rotated in the hoisting direction, and after releasing the stopper, the underwater light is rotated in the hoist-down direction, and dropped.
