PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically correct the position of a printing cylinder by making an optical scanning fiber connected to an image focusing device lead a reflected light to a photodiode arranged behind a machine. ;SOLUTION: The tips of optical scanning fibers 40 are arranged in order in the center part of the bottom wall of a box 26 and this bottom wall is of a conical shape directed toward the optical fibers 40. Each of the boxes 26 has a recessed part on the upper and the lower face, and the recessed part forms a base stopper 45 for positioning a spherical lens 44 correctly. The lens 44 is retained at an appropriate spot by a block of an adhesive 48 occupying the internal space as a whole of the box 26 formed between the optical fibers 40. The boxes 26 are bonded side by side in order to form a fixed row of photoelectric scan elements correctly arranged at a specified interval. After curing, the adhesive 48 is completely transparent and shows homogeneous and isotropic refraction properties in its entire volume.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
