The purpose of this study was to compare cyclic fatigue resistance of NiTi the ProFile (Denstply, Tulsa Dental Specialties, Tulsa, OK), Vortex Blue (Denstply, Tulsa Dental Specialties, Tulsa, OK), Typhoon Infinite Flex NiTi (Clinician's Choice, New Milford, CT), Hyflex CM (Coltene/Whaledent Inc., Cuyahoga Falls, OH) files with both 0.04 and 0.06 tapers.;Fifteen ISO size ;The higher the number of revolutions to failure defined the instrument to having greater resistance to cyclic fatigue. For the number of revolutions to failure the 0.04 taper Hyflex CM files were statistically superior to all other file types. There was no significant difference between the Vortex Blue and the Typhoon CM instruments for the 0.04 taper. Hyflex CM, Vortex Blue, and Typhoon CM were significantly better than the ProFile instrument using a p value of 0.05. In the 0.06 taper instruments all files were statistically significant from one another. Typhoon CM 0.06 had the highest mean of revolutions to failure followed by Hyflex CM, Vortex Blue, and ProFile respectively using a 0.05 p value. A significant difference was determined between the 0.04 and 0.06 tapered files for the number of revolutions until failure. The 0.04 taper instruments had a statistically significant higher number of revolutions until failure at a p value of 0.05.;In this study, Hyflex CM and Typhoon CM rotary files demonstrated superior cyclic fatigue resistance compared with other conventionally available NiTi file systems. These results must be confirmed by additional investigations to determine clinical efficacy and to further evaluate other properties of the files.
