PURPOSE: To provide a method and apparatus for judging the direction of electronic components which eliminate the need for a large equipment and enables accurate detection of the direction of the electronic components. ;CONSTITUTION: When an electronic component 1 is in a specified direction, a probing electrode 11 so arranged to be in contact with an internal electrode 3 exposed to a specified surface thereof is brought into contact with the specified surface of the electronic component 1. It is judged from the current electric characteristic whether the surface with which the probing electrode 11 is in contact, is the surface to which the internal electrode 3 of the electronic component 1 is exposed, or not.
