PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load of a calculation and processing operation by making a target tracking radar apparatus have a constitution wherein the speed of a target is estimated automatically and the processing range of a Doppler correlation operation and that of a pulse compression operation on a Doppler frequency are limited.;SOLUTION: A Doppler correlation device 1, a pulse compression device 2, a maximum-value selector 3, a target detector 4, a tracking processor 5 and a Doppler controller 6 constitute this target tracking radar apparatus. When a received signal by a tracking beam is processed, the speed of a target at a present point of time obtained from the received signal of the tracking beam as well as the maximum speed and the tracking data rate of a supposed target are used in the target processor 5, and the speed of the target to be scanned next is estimated so as to be output to the Doppler controller 6. The Doppler controller 6 sets a processing range on a Doppler frequency in a limited manner on the basis of the estimated output of the speed of the target, and the Doppler correction device 1 is notified of a Doppler filter number according to the Doppler frequency in the processing range. In the Doppler correction device 1 and the Doppler compression device 2, a processing operation such as a Doppler correction operation, a pulse compression operation or the like is performed only in the designated processing range, and the signal of the target is detected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
