PURPOSE: To provide a novel clover yellow vein virus protease which has a specific amino acid sequence and shows a protease activity of severing the bonds between Gln-Ala, GLn-Ser in a substrate peptide specifically and maturates this virus. ;CONSTITUTION: This novel clover yellow vein virus protease includes in the molecule a protein containing an amino acid sequence from No.4-No.437 including the amino acid sequence given in the formula and has an action to specifically hydrolyze the peptide linkages between Gln-Ala, Gln-Gly or Gln-Ser of a substrate peptide or a protein having an amino acid sequence modified by deleting, inserting or substituting one or more amino acid residues from, into or for the above protein and still holding the protease activity. Further, the gene including this protein is connected to another extraneous gene including a useful protein through a specific split sequence in the same reading frame to manifest it in a microbial cell body and to produce the useful protein directly in the cell body.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
