NEW MICROORGANISM HAVING ESTER-DEGRADING ABILITY AND METHOD FOR DEGRADING ESTER WITH THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microorganism which has an ester-degrading ability and makes and ester-containing drainage treatment or the like effective, and to provide a method for degrading the ester with the same. SOLUTION: A microorganism belonging to the genus Corynebacterium, such as Corynebacterium sp. EAK2-1 (FERM P-18047), or a microorganism belonging to the genus Rhodococcus, such as Rhodococcus maris EAE2-2 (FERM P-18051), capable of degrading and assimilating the ester. The method for degrading the ester, characterized by bringing a solution or soil containing the ester into contact with the microorganism.
