PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily, precisely and efficiently perform the fractional collection of a soil sample by depth, particularly, execute the collection to fractionation by depth of the soil sample in a field. ;SOLUTION: This method comprises a soil collecting process of inserting a sample cylinder into the soil to house a soil sample in the sample cylinder and a fractionating process of pushing a sample push-out plate having a circumferential shape to be fitted to the sample cylinder and a thickness corresponding to the collected sample thickness into the sample cylinder containing the collected soil from one end thereof and fractionating the soil sample pushed out from the other end of the sample cylinder, and the fractionating process is repeated, whereby the soil sample is fractionally collected by depth. A collecting device used therefor comprises a sample cylinder 10 for housing a soil sample in the inner part, a driving apparatus 12 for inserting the sample cylinder into the soil, a sample push-out disc 14 having an outer diameter to be fitted to the sample cylinder 10 and a thickness corresponding to the collected sample thickness, and a push-in apparatus 16 for pushing the sample push-out disc 14 into the sample cylinder 10.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
