PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a service providing method by which a calculation job service using a network can be provided to a client in a charging form efficient for the dient.;SOLUTION: A license server 30 of the calculation job system for giving the use permission of software to a plurality of terminals 10-13 on a network is provided with a database 35 for managing the authentication information and software use information and use right of a user at each terminal and the authentication information and software use information and use right at a plurality of clients as a whole. When a request for the use of desired software is issued from the terminal, the user information included in the sue request is collated with the information (authentication information, use information, and use right) of the database 35, and the use permission of the software is given to the origin of request to which the contents of the information are adapted according to that collation, and the user situation or usage of the software whose use permission is given at the terminal is monitored, and when the use situation of the software is advanced during the monitor, or when the usage of the software is increased or decreased, the database 35 is updated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
